Pressed white from dark-skinned grapes
Federweiss means this: the grapes are dark-skinned, but the wine is pressed light. Because the skins are briefly involved, it shimmers salmon-pink in the glass.
What it goes with
With fish, light meat and cheese, and for an apéro. Well chilled, at 8 to 10 degrees.
Origin
The vines grow at the Fluehölzli vineyard in Jona and are tended according to Bio Suisse guidelines. Cabernet Jura is a fungus-resistant grape variety and so needs little plant protection. The wine is made by Markus Weber in Meilen.
